The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma
The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma is a federally recognized Indian Tribe with over 3,800 tribal citizens. Miami ancestral homelands are located in the Great Lakes region and include the states of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, lower Michigan, and lower Wisconsin. Following the Removal Treaty of 1840, the Miami were sent to a reserve in east central Kansas, then to northeastern Oklahoma with the signing of the Treaty in 1867.

The Miami Tribe is governed by a five person Business Committee consisting of the Chief, Second Chief, Secretary-Treasurer, and two councilpersons.

The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Business Development Authority
The MBDA was created in April 1999 to establish and organize tribal business enterprises and to acquire property for the purposes of reducing unemployment, raising revenues, and promoting the economic welfare of the Tribe.

The MBDA is governed by a seven member Board. Each member serves a 10-year term. Terms for the current Board members will expire in September 2019. Current Board members are:

    Tribal member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin


  • Johnny LaFalier, Vice-Chairman (member since 1999)
    Tribal member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma

  • Ronnie W. Harris, Secretary-Treasurer (member since 1999)
    Non-Tribal Member
    Mr. Harris also serves as CEO/President of the MBDA

  • Jerry Lankford (member since 1999)
    Tribal member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma
